The painter and commercial artist distinguished himself as a freelance artist, especially with his colorful, expressive landscapes and nudes. From 1924 to 1927 Letz attended the Staatsgewerbeschule für Hochbau in Vienna's Schellinggasse, where he received his first artistic inspiration from M. Hegele. He also attended painting and drawing courses at Viennese adult education centers and took private lessons with J. Dobrowsky. Letz belonged to the circle of friends around K. Gunsam, F. Stransky, E. Paar, H. Potuzmik and H. Steiner. In 1937 he participated for the first time in a spring exhibition of the Hagenbund, at the end of the year he became its member. After the Second World War until 1950 Letz settled in Salzburg and was a member of the Salzburg Art Association; from 1950 he lived in Vienna again and created posters, company labels etc. as a commercial artist. From 1950 to 1952 Letz organized art exhibitions in the Café Weimar in Vienna-Währing. From 1952 he withdrew completely from the exhibition business. He took a bread job and from then on was only privately active artistically. In 1989, a memorial exhibition was held at the Galerie am Arenbergpark in Vienna. His works are in the Belvedere and the Wien Museum, among others.
